The Main Event is Stone Mountain Elementary's large annual fundraiser that supports several critical initiatives for our teachers and students.
SME has long had a reputation for incredible family involvement and support. A crucial mission of our PTO is to provide additional funds essential to SME's growth and well being across all aspects of schooling (staffing, curriculum, operations and environment). The Douglas County School District isn't able to provide the funds for the many things our PTO financially supports, so it is only through your generous donations that we are able to provide these funds for our school.
ONLINE SILENT AUCTION
This year, we'll be doing an online silent auction! During the week of October 9th, you'll be able to browse and bid on fantastic items and experiences from the comfort of your own couch. Winning bidders will not only receive their items, but they'll receive the satisfaction of knowing that their winning bid is going directly to our school. Any amounts paid over the fair market value of an auction item are tax deductible and we're more than happy to provide tax receipts.
SIGN-UP PARTIES
Each year many of our wonderful SME families offer to host a variety of themed parties for students, parents or both, and then donate all the money raised (from those who pay to attend the party) back to Stone Mountain. Do you love hosting parties? Then please consider signing up to host a party. The party can be anything you want it to be. You commit to hosting and paying for the party anytime between October 2023 and May 2024. You choose the location, the theme, the date, the # of attendees and the grade level. We'll provide the guests!
CLASS BASKETS
Class Baskets are a favorite of students, teachers and parents, too! In September, each class (with the help of a much appreciated parent volunteer) will put together a fun gift basket based on a theme of their choice. Popular themes have included sports, stuffies, money-trees, *hampsters!* and so many other great ones. During the week of October 2nd, we'll put all the baskets out on display in the main hallway. Parents will be able to purchase tickets which will allow their kids the opportunity to enter the drawing for the basket(s) of their choice. Some kids put all their "eggs in one basket" and others spread the love around all the baskets. It's fun to watch what your own kiddo decides to do! At the end of the week, we'll pull the lucky ticket for each basket and announce the winners!
